Standard vs. Deep Cleaning: Which Do You Need?
By Simple House Cleaning Service Richmond · Published
Pick a standard clean for a home that is kept up and needs routine kitchen, bathroom, dusting and floor work. Pick a deep clean when baseboards, tracks, fixtures, grease or shower buildup have fallen behind. Inside appliances and cabinets are extras on both, but they come included in an empty-home move-out clean.
What a standard clean takes care of
A standard visit from Simple House Cleaning Service Richmond works through the lived-in parts of the house: counters, the sink, the stovetop and appliance fronts in the kitchen, full bathrooms, dusting within reach and all the floors. We make the beds, empty the trash and finish with a walk-through. A sheet change is available when you leave fresh linens out.
Standard is the right fit when surfaces are easy to get to and the house is in reasonable shape. A first visit does not have to be a deep clean. Describe how the home looks today rather than going only by how long it has been since the last cleaning.
What a deep clean adds on top
A deep clean includes every standard task, then adds hand detail on baseboards, doors and frames, light switches, sills and tracks, cabinet fronts, reachable ceiling fans and light fixtures. Kitchens get extra time on grease, and bathrooms get extra time on grout, soap scum and hard-water spots.
Many homes around Richmond, Rosenberg and Fulshear are newer builds, so let us know if builder dust is still showing up. If contractors are still working, or there is paint, adhesive or debris left behind, that is construction cleanup and gets its own quote. Dusting vents means the grille surface, not duct cleaning.
- Run a finger along a baseboard and a door frame to check for dust.
- Look at the stovetop and range hood for sticky grease.
- Check shower glass and grout for film or staining.
- Tell us which furniture can be moved safely.
What neither service includes by default
Inside the fridge, oven and cabinets are optional on both standard and deep cleans, and so are interior windows and blinds. Carpet shampooing, high exterior windows, pest droppings, biohazards and mold remediation fall outside the normal checklist.
Cleaning removes dirt, but it cannot undo damage. Etched countertops, worn caulk, cracked grout and permanent stains may still show after a thorough clean. Point out delicate or unusual surfaces before the visit so the right product goes on the right material.
How to choose the right first visit
Call or text with your home size and a plain description of the kitchen and bathrooms. If the main need is everyday dust and floors, a standard clean will cover it. If the detail surfaces have slipped, start with a deep clean and then move to recurring standard visits.
If the home is empty because someone is moving out or moving in, look at our move-in and move-out clean instead. It includes the inside of cabinets and appliances, which a deep clean leaves as add-ons.
